Towel burrito for dogs: how to play
Roll treats into a towel like a burrito, fold the ends, and let your dog unroll it to find them.

- Space
- Small room
You'll need
- old bath towel
- small treats or kibble
Set up
Lay a towel flat on the floor. Sprinkle treats across it.
How to play
Sprinkle treats over the flat towel.
Roll it up from one short end into a loose tube.
First time: only roll it half way, so treats are easy to reach.
Put it down and say "Find it". Let your dog nose and paw it open.
Next level: fold the two ends of the roll in, then tie the whole roll in a loose single knot.
Pick the towel up when your dog's done and shake out the crumbs.
House rules
- One towel, one round. Put it away after.
- Your dog unrolls; you don't.
- Make it easier
- Leave a few treats on top and roll loosely, or use a thin tea towel.
- Make it harder
- Knot the roll, then put it in a cardboard box with the flaps folded shut.
Signs it's having fun
Rooting and nudging with the nose, pawing to unroll, quick tail.
Stop if you see
Your dog tears or eats the towel, or stops trying and stares at you. Make it easier next time.
Safety
- Supervise: stop if your dog chews and swallows fabric. Swap to a muffin tin or puzzle toy.
- Check for loose threads or holes that could wrap around teeth.
- Use part of the daily food allowance so treats don't add extra calories.
